MediaTek has recently unveiled the Dimensity 6400, a budget-friendly 5G chip for smartphones. In addition, it also launched two new Dimensity 7400 series chips for the midrange lineup: the Dimensity 7400 and Dimensity 7400X. A report shared on X by MediaTek stated that these chipsets are designed to deliver exceptional gaming, connectivity, and AI experiences across high-tech and mainstream mobile devices.

These two new midrange chips are the direct successors to the Dimensity 7300 series announced on May 30, 2024. Based on the spec sheets, the Dimensity 7400 has slight changes from its predecessor and has almost identical details, the same as the Dimensity 7400X, which comes with dual-display support for foldable smartphones like its predecessor, the Dimensity 7300X.

MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Series Specs and Features

Both chips feature 4nm TSMC nodes with 4x Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.6GHz and 4x Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. This is a slight increase of 100MHz from its predecessor, which had a 2.5GHz clock speed.

Both feature “MediaTek Adaptive Gaming Technology 3.0,” designed to balance performance and battery efficiency during gaming. The GPU remains the same as its predecessor, the Arm Mali-G615 MC2, but offers a 10% performance improvement over the previous generation.

They also feature MediaTek’s Network Observation System (NOS) to improve network connectivity and optimize power efficiency by enabling precise 5G/Wi-Fi switching and utilizing advanced network prediction.

For imaging, these two new chips feature the Imagiq 950 ISP and Google Ultra HDR support with a 12-bit HDR-ISP and support for up to 200MP main camera sensors. These features enhance image quality, reduce noise, improve face detection, and enhance HDR videos.

For display features, they boast MediaTek MiraVision 955, which supports WFHD+ displays and up to a 120Hz refresh rate. It also supports 10-bit True HDR color and global HDR standards for media streaming and playback.

For connectivity, they support Wi-Fi 6E (2.4GHz/5GHz/6GHz) with hybrid coexistence and antenna optimization, Bluetooth 5.4, and a 5G R16 modem with 3CC carrier aggregation.

    Specifications:

    • CPU: 4x Arm Cortex-A78 up to 2.6GHz, 4x Arm Cortex-A55
    • GPU: Arm Mali-G615 MC2
    • Memory & Storage: LPDDR5, LPDDR4x, UFS 2.2
    • Connectivity: 2G-5G Multi-Mode, Wi-Fi 6E (a/b/g/n/ac/ax), Bluetooth 5.4, GNSS
    • Camera: 200MP, 4K30 (3840 x 2160)
    • Camera Features: Hardware Face Detection and AF, Hardware MCNR, 4K Video HDR, AI-3A with AE, AWB, AF, Video EIS
    • Display: WFHD+ @ 120Hz, Full HD+ @ 144Hz
    • AI: NPU 655
