Nintendo America confirmed the Nintendo Switch 2’s launch on June 5, 2025. Their announcement included a video trailer on X, detailing the device’s features and specifications, also listed on their official website.
What’s New in Nintendo Switch 2?
In January 2025, the company revealed the design and features of this device: a slightly larger console than its predecessor and redesigned Joy-Cons with bigger SL and SR buttons. Last October 2024, rumors suggested support for full Unreal Engine 5, including MegaLights—a game-changer for the Nintendo Switch 2.
According to the latest updates, it sports a larger 7.9-inch LCD display with 1080p resolution, supporting 4K resolution when connected to a TV. It also supports HDR, VRR, and up to 120 fps, offering vivid color, clarity, and smooth gameplay.
The Joy-Con™ 2 controllers, with magnetic connectors, can be used as a mouse in compatible games. It also pre-installs exclusive games like Mario Kart™ World. Plus, you can enjoy compatible games from your Nintendo Switch library.
The console features Game Chat, allowing you to share your game screen while chatting. Start a chat with friends anytime using the C Button!
Other features include a new, freely adjustable stand (up to 150 degrees) for tabletop mode. The device has a USB-C® port and AC adapter, allowing play while charging. Accessories, such as the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera and headphones, are sold separately.
Like previous Nintendo Switch systems, the console transforms to suit your play style: TV mode, tabletop mode, or handheld mode. The Nintendo Switch 2’s official launch is set for June 5, 2025, with an expected price of $449.99.
