BOE, a Chinese electronics company, is one of the largest manufacturers of LCD, OLED, and flexible displays for various devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and TVs. Recently, the company announced a new type of IPS LCD called “ADS Pro” for smartphone displays.

Based on ADS Pro technology, this high-end mobile phone display solution delivers an exceptional experience that defies traditional LCD display limitations. It comprehensively upgrades the pixel design, backplane material, screen structure, and functionality of the mobile phone display, resulting in more refined image quality, a smoother gaming experience, and longer-lasting battery life.
According to a tipster on X (formerly Twitter), the new prototype display features a 6.74″ screen with a 1.5K (2730 x 1224) resolution and a 120Hz to 144Hz refresh rate at 443 ppi, which is equivalent to 600 ppi in OLED displays.
The display supports a 30 to 120/144Hz fixed variable refresh rate, meaning it operates in fixed steps like 30Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz/144Hz. One of its main highlights is its peak global excitation brightness (HBM), which reaches up to 1,500 nits, with 20% less power consumption.
According to BOE, this new type of IPS LCD will bring premium-level features to budget smartphones under €150 (roughly ₱10,000), enhancing entry-level devices. According to GSMArena, this new ADS Pro (IPS LCD) is expected to start appearing on budget smartphones next year (2026).
