It’s breaking wild west news: Red Dead Redemption has officially launched on modern consoles and mobile, with a game-changing perk for Netflix members. Rockstar Games dropped the long-awaited re-release on December 2, 2025, bringing John Marston’s iconic wild west journey to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and — exclusively for Netflix subscribers — iOS and Android devices at no extra cost.

Where to Play & How Much It Costs
The digital-only console release is priced at $49.99 / £49.99 — but don’t sleep on the launch discount: 50% off ($24.99 / £24.99) for 2 weeks on Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
If you already own the digital PS4, original Switch, or backward-compatible Xbox One (Xbox 360) version, you’ll get a free upgrade to the latest console edition. Note: Xbox 360 disc/cartridge owners don’t qualify for the free upgrade.
For mobile, just open the Netflix app (iOS 18.0+ or Android required), log in, and download the game — no extra fees, no in-app purchases.
What’s Included (and What’s Missing)
This isn’t a lazy port: you get the full single-player campaign (picking up after Red Dead Redemption 2), the beloved Undead Nightmare DLC, and all bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition.
The only downside? No multiplayer — so you’ll be riding solo through the frontier this time.
Tech Upgrades for a Smoother Gallop
Modern consoles get a major glow-up:
- PS5/Xbox Series X|S: Up to 4K resolution at 60 FPS, HDR support, enhanced textures/lighting (pulled from PC’s “Ultra” settings), and PS5 adds DualSense trigger/vibration effects.
- Nintendo Switch 2: 60 FPS, HDR, DLSS support, and optional mouse controls.
On mobile, the game is optimized for touchscreens with scaled visuals that look sharp on small screens.
Saves, Trophies & Download Sizes
- Save transfers: Supported from PS4 → PS5 and original Switch → Switch 2. Xbox 360 saves can’t transfer to Xbox Series X|S.
- Trophies/achievements: A brand-new list — so even if you already earned the platinum, you can do it all again (some users may need to re-complete one small action to unlock transferred progress).
Approximate download sizes:
- Xbox Series X|S: 9.59 GB
- PS5: 9.73 GB
- Switch 2: 11.7 GB
- iOS: 3.1 GB
- Android: 2.74 GB
Whether you’re revisiting Marston’s quest or jumping in for the first time, now’s the perfect chance to hit the trail. Just don’t wait on that console discount — it’s only around for two weeks.
