Terraria has officially released Update 1.4.5, titled “Bigger & Boulder,” on January 27, 2026, based on the game’s official forum announcement. The update also kicks off Terraria’s 15th anniversary celebration, bringing new items, crossover content, new world seeds, and major quality-of-life upgrades.
For the first time, the update launched at the same time across PC, Console, and Mobile. The only exception is the Chinese mobile version, which is delayed due to server migration, localization review, and the timing of the Chinese New Year holiday.
Release Date and Platforms
Terraria 1.4.5 is now available starting January 27, 2026. The release is synchronized across PC, Console, and Mobile, which is a first for the game’s update rollout.
Re-Logic noted that China mobile will receive the update later. The delay is linked to server-side changes, localization review, and holiday scheduling.
650+ New Items Added (Total Now Over 6,000)
Update 1.4.5 adds more than 650 new items, pushing Terraria’s total item count to over 6,000. The new content includes a mix of gear, cosmetics, and building options, making the patch feel significant for both returning and long-time players.
Builders also get new furniture sets, including Corruption, Crimson, Aetherium, and Gothic, expanding options for themed bases and biome-inspired builds.
Dead Cells and Palworld Crossover Content
Terraria 1.4.5 includes an official crossover with Dead Cells, adding themed content across multiple categories. The announcement highlights items such as the Flint weapon, the Beheaded vanity item, and the Flask Room furniture set.
The update also adds official Palworld-themed content, following Palworld’s earlier crossover update called “Tides of Terraria.” This brings the collaboration into Terraria itself, giving players new crossover items to collect and use.
Visual Improvements and World Atmosphere Changes
Several visual upgrades arrive in 1.4.5, including new biome backgrounds and improved sun phase effects. These changes make exploration feel more varied across different parts of the world.

Terraria also adds a visible Aurora Borealis effect and improves the look of lightning and thunderstorms. Fishing gets a small but noticeable change too, as players can now see fish in the water while fishing.
The update refreshes older visuals as well, with updated sprites for banners and trophies.
Heroicis Vanity Set Made With Make-A-Wish
One of the standout additions is the Heroicis Vanity Set, created in collaboration with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for a fan named Frank. It includes a unique look designed to stand out from standard vanity gear.
The set also comes with a special “film noir” shader, giving it a distinct style compared to other cosmetic options.
Quality-of-Life Upgrades: Crafting, Storage, and NPC Housing
Terraria 1.4.5 introduces a redesigned crafting interface with a searchable, tabbed layout, replacing the older grid view. This makes it easier to find recipes, especially with the game’s expanding item list.
The update also adds chest crafting, allowing players to craft using materials from nearby chests without opening them or moving items into their inventory. It’s a major improvement for players who keep large storage areas in their worlds.

Inventory management is improved further with a new banner menu, letting players claim and use banners without carrying or placing them manually. All identical items now stack fully as well, including items with the same prefixes or suffixes.
NPC housing rules have also changed, with villagers no longer needing a room to spawn. They can roam freely and retreat to safety at night if they don’t have a home, while the Housing Query tool now shows visual indicators for missing requirements like lighting or furniture.
Multiplayer Spectator Mode Added
Multiplayer players get a new Spectator Mode feature. When a player dies, they can toggle between living players and watch the action while waiting to respawn.
This keeps multiplayer sessions active, especially during boss fights and event runs.
New Seed Menu, Skyblock Mode, and Secret Vampire Effect
Terraria 1.4.5 adds a new Seed Menu UI, making it easier to select and combine special seeds. Players can now mix world modifiers more easily, such as combining Remix with Not the Bees.

The update also introduces an official Skyblock seed, where players begin on a tiny island with limited resources. Another new seed called “Royale with Cheese” offers a team-based setup, spawning teams in different areas across the map.
A secret seed combination also adds a vampire effect, creating a challenge where players must avoid sunlight.
Dedicated Servers, New Boulders, and What’s Next
Re-Logic confirmed that updated dedicated server software (version 1.4.5) is required for PC and Mobile, and it’s available through the official Terraria website.
The “Bigger & Boulder” name refers to the update’s new boulder additions, including more boulder types and new ways they interact with the world. Re-Logic also said it will share details on future plans after the initial launch period and hotfix rollout.
