Nintendo has released a new update for Super Mario Galaxy 2, introducing an additional Storybook chapter that continues the tale of the twin Lumas.
The Storybook feature, which also appeared in Super Mario Galaxy, gives players a deeper look into the series’ lore. In Super Mario Galaxy 2, it follows the adventures of Mari and Lu, along with the mysterious “lady of shooting stars.” With the latest update, a fifth chapter has been added, which becomes available after clearing any galaxy and obtaining a Power Star.
Alongside the story update, a new track from the latest chapter has been added to the game’s playlist on the Nintendo Music app. The app is included with Nintendo Switch Online memberships, giving subscribers access to a wide selection of Nintendo soundtracks.
Nintendo is also rolling out new customization options for players. Nintendo Switch Online members can redeem My Nintendo Platinum Points to unlock icon elements themed around Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, including character icons, backgrounds, and frames. These can be accessed through the Missions & Rewards section on the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu.
For even more star-hopping fun, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has arrived in theaters nationwide. The big-screen adventure expands the Galaxy universe with familiar faces and new surprises, including the fan-favorite Yoshi, who joins the cosmic journey for the first time in this interstellar outing.
The latest update, along with new music and profile customization features, reflects Nintendo’s ongoing effort to expand and refresh the Super Mario Galaxy experience for both longtime fans and new players.
