Google has introduced a new laptop category called Googlebook, designed around its Gemini Intelligence platform and deeper integration with the Android ecosystem.

The company said the new laptops are built to combine the strengths of Android and ChromeOS while focusing heavily on AI-powered features, cross-device connectivity, and premium hardware designs. Google also confirmed that more details and device availability will be announced later this year. The promotional clip is now live on their official YouTube channel. According to Google, the Googlebook platform represents a shift from the traditional operating system approach toward what it describes as an “intelligence system.” The company noted that the project builds on more than 15 years of Chromebook development while introducing new AI-focused experiences powered by Gemini.

One of the headline features is called “Magic Pointer,” developed alongside Google DeepMind. The feature enhances the laptop cursor with contextual Gemini assistance. Users can reportedly point at content on the screen to receive suggested actions, such as creating calendar events from email dates or combining images for visual previews.

Google is also introducing “Create your Widget,” a feature that allows users to generate personalized desktop widgets through prompts. Gemini can reportedly pull information from services like Gmail, Calendar, flights, hotels, and restaurant bookings to create a unified dashboard experience.

The company said Googlebook is optimized for users who frequently switch between devices. Because it is partially built on the Android technology stack, Googlebook supports tighter integration with Android phones, including app continuity and file access features.

A new “Quick Access” tool will allow users to browse and insert files stored on their smartphones directly from the laptop without manually transferring them.

Google confirmed it is partnering with major PC manufacturers including Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo for the first wave of Googlebook devices.

The laptops will feature premium materials and a new design element called the “Glowbar,” which Google described as both functional and visually distinctive.

More information about Googlebook devices is expected to be revealed later this fall through googlebook.google.
