The June 2026 PlayStation State of Play showcase brought a massive lineup of major upcoming games, new trailers, firm release dates, and surprise spin-offs that caught fans off guard. The broadcast streamed live worldwide on the official PlayStation YouTube channel, running just over 1 hour and 17-18 minutes total.

The biggest highlight of the whole show was definitely the extended look at Marvel’s Wolverine. It ran for about seven minutes and gave us by far the best, most detailed look we’ve ever had at Insomniac’s long‑awaited game.

Below is a complete breakdown of every announcement, sorted by category for easy reference.

Headline Reveal: Marvel’s Wolverine Extended Gameplay

Right at the start, we got the full extended gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine, made just for PS5. The footage showed hard‑hitting, brutal fights, really detailed locations, and a darker, more serious story that feels exactly like Wolverine should. They didn’t give a new release date, it’s still coming September 15, 2026, but seeing so much about how the game plays, how you can customize it, and bits of the story made this easily the part everyone is talking about.

Surprise New Game Announcements

Several projects were revealed for the first time, including sequels, spin-offs, and original titles:

Until Dawn 2 – A surprise sequel to the 2015 horror classic, set on an isolated, abandoned resort island. Players will face new threats and branching story paths, with a release window set for 2027.

Bancho the Chef – A charming prequel spin-off to the award-winning indie hit Dave the Diver, following the backstory of one of the game’s most popular characters.

Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen – A stylized action game led by director Ikumi Nakamura, blending ninja parkour, stealth, and supernatural combat as players hunt dangerous yokai spirits.

Stuntman: Hollywood – A high-energy racing and action game centered entirely on movie stunts, with players performing dangerous, over-the-top sequences for big-budget films.

The Lost Wild – A cinematic survival horror game inspired by classic dinosaur adventures, set in a vast, untamed ecosystem where players must hunt, build, and stay alive.

ILL – A grotesque, intense first-person survival horror game featuring detailed, terrifying enemy designs and a focus on tense, resource-limited gameplay. Slated for 2027.

Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered – A modern upgrade of the fan-favorite PS2-era hack-and-slash title, with improved graphics, updated controls, and all original content included.

Marathon – Bungie’s sci-fi extraction shooter showed off its upcoming Season 2 update, titled Nightfall, with new maps, gear, and gameplay changes coming later in 2026.

God of War: Laufey – Standalone Spin‑Off

One of the biggest surprises to close out the showcase was a first look at God of War: Laufey, a standalone title from Santa Monica Studio. The game follows Faye, also known as Laufey, in events set before the 2018 God of War reboot. Gameplay footage showed agile, acrobatic combat focused on magic, ranged abilities, and exploration, a stark contrast to Kratos’ heavy, brute-force style. No official release date or launch window was announced.

Right after the trailer premiered, franchise director Cory Barlog hosted an official interview with the game’s creative director as part of the broadcast. Barlog confirmed that this project has been in development alongside the main series for several years, noting that Faye was always written as one of the most powerful and important figures in the saga, even though her full story was never shown before. The game director explained that the team wanted to create a completely distinct experience, with combat and movement built specifically around her abilities, background, and personality, to give players a fresh perspective on the world they explored in God of War (2018) and Ragnarök.

Upcoming PlayStation Plus Additions

Sony also confirmed a lineup of games coming to PlayStation Plus tiers, including day-one launches and classic titles:

  • Runescape: Dragonwilds – A third-person fantasy adventure set in the Runescape universe, launching day-one on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium later in 2026.
  • Gitaroo Man – The cult classic rhythm action game joins the PlayStation Plus Premium Classics Catalog in June 2026.
  • Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy – The action-adventure title focused on psychic powers arrives on PlayStation Plus Premium in July 2026.
  • Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams – The beloved samurai action game comes to the Classics Catalog in August 2026.

This recap covers every major reveal from the showcase, and remains a complete reference for all games announced, their release plans, and what players can expect from PlayStation’s upcoming lineup.
