Huawei has launched the Mate 90 Pro Max in China as a high-end flagship focused heavily on photography, display technology and battery life. The phone features a 6.9-inch LTPO OLED display, a 6,800mAh battery with 100W wired charging, and a rear camera system led by a 50MP main sensor and 200MP periscope telephoto camera.

One of the phone’s biggest highlights is Huawei’s Ruiying Z10 camera module, which brings a 1-inch sensor and a continuous optical zoom system covering a 24mm to 240mm focal-length range. The Mate 90 Pro Max also runs HarmonyOS 7 and includes support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and IP68/IP69-rated protection.

Phone Features

The Mate 90 Pro Max uses a 6.9-inch BOE second-generation Linglong OLED display with a 2848 × 1320 resolution. It supports an adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz.

The panel reaches up to 2,200 nits of full-screen brightness and can reach a claimed local peak brightness of 12,000 nits. Other display features include 1,440Hz PWM dimming, a 300Hz touch sampling rate, BT.2020 color gamut coverage and 455ppi pixel density.

Photography is another major focus. The rear setup combines a 50MP main camera, 40MP ultra-wide camera, 200MP periscope telephoto camera and a third-generation Red Maple primary-color camera. The main sensor uses SmartSens’ SC595XS with LOFIC technology, a variable f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture, optical image stabilization and an RYYB pixel arrangement.

The 200MP periscope camera uses the SmartSens SCC85XS sensor and also supports OIS and RYYB technology. Huawei lists up to 4x optical zoom, 8x optical-quality zoom and 100x digital zoom.

It also supports up to 4K video recording and 1080p slow-motion video at up to 960fps. On the front, there is a 13MP ultra-wide camera paired with a 3D depth-sensing system.
