STEPX just unveiled something quite interesting. They call the StepX Neo the world’s first large scale native AI agent smartphone. It runs its own operating system called StepAOS 1.0 and comes with a built in personal AI agent named Amoo. The phone has a retro futuristic look and a six microphone array so it can pick up your voice from almost anywhere.
It is built mainly for people who want to experience what a personal AI can actually do, especially those who like creating things with AI tools. One really cool feature is the small dot matrix screen on the back. It shows you exactly what Amoo is doing right now like listening, working on something, waiting for input, or showing results. It keeps things transparent so you always know what is going on.

The pricing works differently too. Instead of just paying for the hardware, your purchase includes the AI service as well. Every month for 12 months you get 10 billion tokens to use with the AI agent. The phone itself costs 3,999 yuan for the 16GB plus 256GB model. Pre orders went live on October 13 and full sales start October 16 through JD.com and other stores.
Here is what you get inside:
- Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
- CPU: 2x 3.8 GHz – Oryon Prime
6x 3.32 GHz – Oryon Performance - GPU: Adreno 829
- Screen: 6.36 inch 2670×1200 OLED display, 120Hz refresh rate
- Cameras: 32MP front camera with Geke Micro GC32E1, 1/3.1″, 50MP main with Hovis OV50E40, 1/1.55″ OIS, and 8MP with Hovis OV08F10, 1/2.7″ ultra wide
- Software: StepAOS 1.0 based on Android 16
- Others: Six microphones, dedicated AI button, ultrasonic fingerprint, 12 months of AI tokens included
It is definitely a different approach to what a smartphone can be. We will see how people take to having an AI agent running right at the system level.
