Tesla showcased its second-generation Roadster on October 15, 2026, at SpaceX’s test facility in McGregor, Texas. First unveiled in 2017, the electric sports car returned with a demonstration of its underbody suction system and SpaceX-inspired cold-gas thrusters.

During the demonstration, the Roadster used its suction system to travel along an inverted section of a curved surface before performing an aerial maneuver and landing back on its wheels. The vehicle also demonstrated its thrusters by jumping over a lineup of Tesla vehicles.

The demo showed how far Tesla wants to take electric car performance. That said, these stunts don’t show how the car will actually drive in everyday use.

Three Roadster Configurations Announced

Tesla presented three Roadster configurations: Performance, Thrust, and Rocket, each offering different features and performance capabilities.

The Performance configuration is designed for road use and is advertised with a zero-to-60-mph acceleration time of under 1.6 seconds. The Thrust configuration adds rear-mounted cold-gas thrusters, with Tesla advertising an acceleration time of under 0.9 seconds.

The top-tier Rocket configuration features thrusters positioned around the vehicle and a single-seat layout. Tesla advertises a zero-to-60-mph time of under 0.59 seconds and says the configuration will be available by invitation only. Its flight system is not approved for public-road use, according to Tesla’s stated restrictions.

These acceleration figures are manufacturer claims and should not be interpreted as independently verified production-vehicle test results.

Tesla is targeting 2028 for the start of Roadster production. However, the timeline remains subject to change, particularly given the lengthy development period since the vehicle’s original unveiling. Final pricing and other production specifications should be confirmed through Tesla’s official announcements.

Tesla’s Presence in the Philippines

While the Roadster remains a future product, Tesla already has an established presence in the Philippine electric-vehicle market.

The company officially entered the Philippine market in November 2024, opening its first showroom and service center at Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City. The launch showcased the Model 3 and Model Y.

Tesla’s Philippine configurator lists the Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive at ₱1,838,000, although prices and available configurations may change. The company also operates Supercharger locations at selected sites in the country.

For Philippine consumers interested in Tesla’s current lineup, the Model 3 and Model Y offer more immediate options while the company continues developing the next-generation Roadster.

The Roadster’s eventual production schedule, final specifications, pricing, and availability in the Philippines remain important considerations for prospective buyers.
