Huawei is making significant progress in the development of its upcoming P70 series smartphones, which are the successors to the successful Huawei P60 series.The release date of the Huawei P70 series may be earlier than expected, potentially in March, according to Weibo tipster Wisdom Pikachu.
This aligns with a previous leak suggesting a launch window at the end of March or the beginning of April 2024. The tipster has also shared insights into the camera features of the upcoming series.
Huawei P70 to sport a 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor with improved focus and aperture
One notable feature of the Huawei P70 series is the use of the well-matured IMX989 sensor, which was launched some time ago. This sensor greatly enhances both aperture and focusing, resulting in improved imaging compared to previous versions. Additionally, Huawei plans to experiment with a near-2K screen in the latter half of the year.
Digital Chat Station recently revealed some camera specifications for the P70 series. It is expected that the series will include the Huawei OV50H physical variable aperture. Huawei intends to utilize both the 1/1.3-inch OV50H sensor and the larger 1.02-inch IMX989 sensor in different models within the series.
The top-tier model, Huawei P70 Art, is predicted to feature the Sony IMX989 sensor, in line with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s previous prediction. Ming-Chi Kuo also mentioned that the Huawei P70 Art will have a distinctive 1G6P glass-plastic hybrid lens, which is anticipated to significantly enhance the camera’s performance.
Huawei P70 Rumored Specs
In terms of other specifications, the Huawei P70 series is rumored to boast a 1.5K deep micro quad-curved 6.7-inch display with minimal bezels. Huawei will source domestic OLED displays from manufacturers like BOE, COST, Visionox, and Tianma.
The series will also showcase a unique triangular-patterned triple-lens rear camera design, labeled with Huawei’s XMAGE branding, highlighting the focus on high-quality imaging.
Furthermore, the Huawei P70 series is expected to house a 5000mAh high-density battery and stereo dual speakers with a receiver. The base model, Huawei P70, may be powered by the Kirin 9000S chip and the other model will be powered by Kirin 9010.
