Evolution of Xiaomi’s Smartphone Displays
Xiaomi has been on a journey of evolution with its smartphone displays. The journey began with the 6.28-inch panel of the Xiaomi 12, then moved onto a larger 6.36-inch screen in the Xiaomi 13. This trend was carried forward with the Xiaomi 14, which kept the screen size consistent while varying the specifications.
Xiaomi 15 Display – What to Expect?
An insider source, Digital Chat Station, has revealed that the forthcoming Xiaomi 15 will retain the same 6.36-inch flat display. However, the source didn’t provide any additional information about the screen.
Similar Size, Different Specifications
Despite having the same screen size, the last two Xiaomi models had different specifications. This signals that the Xiaomi 15 may also feature a unique display, with the size remaining constant. Early predictions hint that the new model’s screen will be enhanced by a single-point ultrasonic fingerprint solution from Goodix.
Resolution and Brightness Upgrades
For reference, the Xiaomi 14 introduced a 1.5K resolution (2670 x 1200 pixels), a noteworthy enhancement from the Xiaomi 13’s FHD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels) resolution. This upgrade resulted in a crisper display on the newer model, boasting a pixel density of 460 PPI, compared to the previous model’s 414 PPI.
Furthermore, the latest Xiaomi 14 incorporated LTPO tech (1-120Hz), which allowed it to achieve a local peak brightness level of 3000 nits. This is a significant leap from the Xiaomi 13’s maximum of 1900 nits.
Screen Protection Variations
Both models support Dolby Vision content, but they have different screen protection. The Xiaomi 14 comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, while the Xiaomi 13 features Gorilla Glass 5.
Anticipating the Xiaomi 15
The Xiaomi 15 is expected to start mass production in September, and more details about the device are likely to surface soon. Current speculations suggest that the smartphone will be driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip and will boast a larger battery than its predecessor.
