Apple’s next-generation iPhone lineup has moved into early sample production, according to information posted by Digital Chat Station, a China-based tipster, on Weibo.

The post suggests Apple is testing four models under the iPhone 18 series, all using LTPO displays with adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz.

The standard iPhone 18 is said to feature a 6.27-inch display with the Dynamic Island, while another model referred to as the iPhone Air 2 is expected to use a larger 6.55-inch LTPO panel, also keeping the Dynamic Island design.

The more notable changes are tipped for the Pro models. According to Digital Chat Station, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will introduce a newly redesigned under-display cutout area for the front-facing system.

The tip does not specify whether this under-display section is intended for the camera, the 3D Face ID components, or a combination of both, but it suggests Apple is experimenting with moving at least part of the front sensor array beneath the display.

The iPhone 18 Pro is listed with a 6.27-inch display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max is said to feature a larger 6.86-inch panel. Both Pro models are expected to use LTPO technology with 120Hz refresh rates, consistent with Apple’s recent Pro-tier devices.

If accurate, the shift would point to a phased redesign of Apple’s front display system rather than a full removal of visible cutouts. Apple has gradually reduced the size of front-facing display interruptions, moving from the notch to the Dynamic Island in recent generations.

Apple does not comment on unannounced products, and the final design could still change as development continues. The iPhone 18 series is expected to launch in 2026, in line with Apple’s annual product cycle.

Digital Chat Station has previously reported accurate details on smartphone display specifications and early hardware plans, though information from the sample production stage should be treated with caution until confirmed by Apple.
