Apple is reportedly planning a major overhaul of its iPhone release schedule. According to Lin Sam on Weibo, citing Shana Digital, the iPhone Fold and iPhone 18 Pro are expected to enter mass production in July 2026 and launch together in the second half of the year. This timeline matches earlier expectations shared by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo last year.

The same report claims the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will be delayed until the first half of 2027, which is the first time Apple has skipped an entire year without releasing new non-Pro flagship models. The delay is reportedly tied to manufacturing complexity and a major redesign planned for the standard model.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone is said to adopt a book-style inward folding design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series, with a strong focus on minimizing display creases. The device is rumored to use a titanium alloy frame, feature Touch ID integrated into the power button, and carry a premium price ranging from $2,000 to $2,500 in the U.S.

Meanwhile, a separate leak shared by GM on X revealed early details about the iPhone 18 Pro, suggesting several hardware upgrades while retaining a familiar design.
iPhone 18 Pro – Early leaked specs include:
- Rear design similar to iPhone 17 Pro
- New color options such as burgundy, brown, and purple
- Narrower Dynamic Island
- A20 Pro chip built on a 2nm process
- Apple C2 modem replacing Qualcomm
- Variable aperture main camera
- Switch to a Samsung image sensor (from Sony)
- Pressure-sensitive camera button similar to those used by OPPO
If the report is accurate, Apple’s 2026 lineup is expected to prioritize premium Pro models and foldable device, potentially delaying updates for standard iPhone 18 models until 2027. As it stands, the iPhone 18 Pro is slated to maintain its traditional flagship status with a projected launch in September 2026.
