Gamers are venting their frustration over the newly revealed Expedition bonuses in Embark Studios’ extraction shooter, Arc Raiders. According to a recent news, players are unhappy with the endgame feature’s rewards, which are tied to a player’s stash value, leading to concerns about the game’s meta and overall player experience.
The “Expedition Project,” as it’s known, is designed as an endgame feature where players give up all their accumulated loot in exchange for a permanent stat bonus. The controversial element is that the size of this bonus is directly linked to the total value of a player’s stash, including coins. Specifically, players earn just one skill point for every one million coins worth of value, up to a maximum of five points.
This system has sparked considerable backlash within the Arc Raiders community. Many players feel that the rewards are simply not worth the effort required to hoard vast amounts of loot. Comments across social media platforms reveal that players are unwilling to “grind” for the five million coins needed to obtain the maximum bonus.
Adding to the frustration is the game’s lack of a clear and straightforward way to check stash value. Players must manually select every item in their inventory and navigate through menus to view the total worth, a cumbersome process that further exacerbates the negative sentiment.
Perhaps the most significant concern is the potential impact on the game’s meta. Players worry that, in an effort to maximize their stash value, they will be discouraged from using high-level gear in online matches, leading to a less engaging and dynamic gameplay experience. The community fears that the Expedition bonus system inadvertently turns players into “hoarders” rather than active participants, undermining the core principles of the game.
The Arc Raiders Expedition project is scheduled to run from December 17th to December 22nd, 2025.
