A woman from Texas got a surprise from Stanley, the company that makes the viral Quencher H2.0 tumbler, after her car caught fire and burned down, but her tumbler remained intact.
Ashley Smith, a 28-year-old nurse from Dallas, was driving to work on Monday morning when she noticed smoke coming from her engine. She pulled over and got out of the car, grabbing her purse and her Stanley tumbler, which she had bought online after seeing it on TikTok.
“I love my Stanley tumbler, it keeps my drinks cold for hours and it’s so cute,” Smith said. “I always take it with me wherever I go.”
As she was waiting for help, she saw flames engulfing her car, a 2015 Honda Civic that she had bought with her savings. She called 911 and watched in horror as her car was destroyed by the fire.
“I was so scared and sad, I didn’t know what to do,” Smith said. “I lost everything in that car, except for my tumbler.”
Smith posted a video on TikTok showing the aftermath of the fire, and how her Stanley tumbler was the only thing that survived. The video went viral, getting over 10 million views and thousands of comments.
“I couldn’t believe how many people saw my video and felt sorry for me,” Smith said. “Some people even offered to help me out with money or a new car.”
But the biggest surprise came from Stanley itself, the company that makes the Quencher H2.0 tumbler. The company reached out to Smith and offered to replace her car with a brand new one, as well as send her more tumblers and other products.
“We were amazed by Ashley’s story and how our tumbler survived the fire,” said Mike Wallace, the president of Stanley. “We wanted to show our appreciation and support for her, and make her life a little easier.”
Smith said she was shocked and grateful for the generous gesture from Stanley, and accepted the offer. She said she plans to get a new car soon, and will always keep her Stanley tumbler with her.
“I’m so thankful to Stanley and everyone who supported me,” Smith said. “They turned a bad situation into a good one, and I’ll never forget that.”
