Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra Launched with Snapdragon 8 Elite and 50MP Lytia-700

ASUS has officially launched the Zenfone 12 Ultra in Europe, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. The company announced its launch date of February 6, 2025, last month, and pre-launch speculation suggested it was a rebranded ROG Phone 9. The phone is now listed on ASUS’s website with a starting price of EUR 1,100 (approximately PHP 66,400 in Philippine pesos). Promotional videos are also posted on their official social media pages, including Facebook, X, and Instagram.

The Zenfone 12 Ultra boasts a 6.78-inch Samsung E6 OLED display with a 1–120Hz LTPO refresh rate, increasing to 144Hz for supported games. The FHD+ (1080 x 2400) resolution screen offers a peak brightness of 2500 nits and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The display supports 107.37% DCI-P3, 145.65% sRGB, and 103.16% NTSC color gamut coverage, along with Amazon HDR, YouTube HDR, and an Always-On display.

Its slim and chic design features a Zen-inspired aesthetic with a silky matte glass finish, ultra-narrow bezels, and elegantly rounded corners. Measuring 163.8 x 77.0 x 8.9 mm and weighing approximately 220 grams, it also features IP68 water and dust resistance and comes in Ebony Black, Sakura White, and Sage Green colorways.

Powering the Zenfone 12 Ultra is a 4nm 4.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor paired with an Adreno 830 GPU. Memory options include 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and storage options are 256GB or 512GB UFS 4.0.

A standout feature is its camera system. The main camera features a 50MP Sony Lytia-700 sensor with OIS, a 1/1.56-inch sensor size, and a six-axis gimbal stabilizer 4.0, offering a claimed 66% improvement in stability over its predecessor. The ultrawide camera is a 13MP 120° wide-angle lens, and the telephoto lens is a 32MP OIS lens with 3x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom. A 32MP OIS RGBW front-facing camera with 1.4μm pixel binning handles selfies.

The 5,500mAh battery supports Quick Charge 5.0 and Power Delivery (PD) charging. Wired charging supports 65-watt HyperCharge, and it’s compatible with the Qi 1.3 standard (up to 15W using a QC 2.0 charger).

Beyond its impressive hardware, ASUS emphasizes AI features, including AI Photography and AI Daily Tools. These include the on-device Llama 3 8B model from Meta, providing high-quality AI text summaries, and AI Transcript 2.0 with multi-speaker identification, summarization, and translation capabilities.

Additional features include dual 5G nano SIM and e-SIM support, Android 15 out of the box, Wi-Fi 7 (2.4GHz/5GHz/6GHz), Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual stereo speakers, and tri-microphones with ASUS noise reduction technology.
