Deadpool is officially joining Marvel Rivals in Season 6, and his arrival brings one of the most unconventional hero designs the game has seen so far. Revealed during The Game Awards 2025 and detailed further in NetEase’s latest Dev Vision update, the Merc with a Mouth will enter the roster as a triple-role character, allowing players to switch between Duelist, Vanguard, and Strategist roles.

Unlike other heroes who are limited to a single class, Deadpool keeps the same appearance in all roles, while his health and abilities change depending on the role chosen. As a Duelist, he focuses on offense, with an ability that throws his sword like a spinning razor blade. The Vanguard version gives him a deployable spherical shield to protect teammates and control the battlefield. Strategist Deadpool, on the other hand, supports allies by healing them with either his shots or katana attacks.

Deadpool’s kit also introduces several mechanics unique to Marvel Rivals. During matches, he can level up abilities mid-fight, opening a book-style interface that lets players choose which upgrades to unlock. One of his abilities punishes enemies for missed shots by dealing damage, while another allows him to take photos with defeated opponents. In the reveal trailer, Deadpool is even shown activating photo mode to become invincible, absorbing Magneto’s Ultimate ability in the process.

Season 6, titled Night at the Museum,” also adds new content beyond Deadpool. A new battlefield, Museum of Contemplation, is scheduled to arrive on January 29. Times Square, the game’s non-combat social hub, will receive a photo mode on January 16, followed by the launch of The Clobberin’ Club on January 29, a feature that allows players to duel and broadcast matches on the area’s massive digital screens.

Hero proficiency is getting a full overhaul as well. The previous tier system has been expanded to include more hero-specific rewards, such as in-game currency and animated character avatars. Team-Up abilities are also being adjusted in Season 6. Peni Parker’s Team-Up with Rocket Raccoon and Spider-Man’s Ever-Burning Bond with Human Torch are being retired. In their place, Peni Parker and Spider-Man gain a new Team-Up that grants Spider-Man a web bomb ability. Deadpool is also receiving a Team-Up with Jeff, creating a spinning toy that heals allies while covering enemies’ screens with animated Deadpool visuals.

According to the early Season 6 preview, balance changes are planned for the update, including buffs, nerfs, and adjustments to Namor, with full patch notes expected closer to launch. The Resource Rumble mode has been temporarily removed from Quick Match and is set to return later in a reworked 18v18 format.

Marvel Rivals Season 6 launches Friday, January 16, 2026, with Deadpool ready to jump into action, becoming one of the season’s biggest highlights.
