“Demon Slayer” is an anime series based on Koyoharu Gotouge’s 23-volume manga, which ran from 2016 to 2020. The franchise previously released three films adapting the “Mugen Train,” “Swordsmith Village,” and “Hashira Training” arcs. “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle,” directed by Haruo Sotozaki, with Akira Matsushima as Chief Animation Director and Character Designer, is an adaptation of the manga’s Infinity Castle arc. Notably, the “Swordsmith Village” arc premiered at SM Cinema in 2023.
Tanjiro Kamado’s journey begins with the horrific massacre of his family by a demon. He discovers his younger sister, Nezuko, is still alive, but transformed into a demon. Despite the danger she poses, Tanjiro refuses to abandon her, vowing to find a way to cure her and avenge his family. His quest leads him to join the Demon Slayer Corps, an organization dedicated to eradicating demons. He undergoes rigorous training, mastering unique breathing techniques and swordsmanship, to hone his skills in combating the demonic threat. Along the way, he encounters other Demon Slayers, forging alliances and facing increasingly powerful demons, all while carrying the weight of his past trauma and the hope of restoring Nezuko’s humanity. His unwavering determination and compassion for his sister fuel his relentless pursuit of justice and a cure.
