GPD Win 5 Features and Specifications

At the heart of the GPD Win 5 lies the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, a powerhouse APU with a 55-75W TDP. Featuring 16 Zen 5 cores and integrated Radeon 8060S graphics, the Win 5 promises desktop-class performance in a portable form factor. According to GPD, the multi-core performance of the Win 5 surpasses that of the Intel Core i9-14900, a 219W desktop processor.

The 7-inch IPS display boasts a 1920×1080 resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, enhanced by AMD FreeSync Premium for tear-free gaming. The device supports 100% of the sRGB color space, ensuring vibrant and accurate visuals. Despite packing such powerful hardware, GPD has managed to keep the device relatively compact, measuring just 267mm in length – smaller than many competing handhelds, including the Steam Deck.

GPD distinguishes the Win 5 by offering up to 128 GB of LPDDR5X 8000 MT/s memory and up to 4 TB of SSD storage. Users can choose from configurations with 32 GB or 64 GB of RAM, and 1 TB, 2 TB, or 4 TB SSDs. For expandable storage, the Win 5 also includes a Micro SD card slot, as well as a Mini SSD card slot for even faster speeds.

One of the most innovative features of the Win 5 is its detachable 80Wh battery pack. Without the battery, the device weighs in at a trim 565 grams. With the battery attached, the weight increases to 915 grams. For stationary use, GPD has included a 180W AI PC power adapter, allowing users to bypass the battery altogether.

The GPD Win 5 utilizes capacitive joysticks engineered for eSports FPS gaming, promising zero dead zones and zero drift for long-term reliability. The triggers feature Hall Effect technology, with a hair-trigger mode offering 0.1mm accuracy and a 0.1ms response time. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, two Type-C ports (one USB 3.2 Gen 2 and one USB 4.0), and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Performance benchmarks released by GPD indicate that the Win 5 outperforms many high-end desktop processors while maintaining a lower TDP. The device is also reported to achieve higher scores than the NVIDIA RTX 4060 Mobile in synthetic tests.

While pricing has not been officially confirmed, GPD has suggested that the Win 5 will be priced below the ASUS ROG Z13 Flow 2025 (approximately $2299), hinting at a sub-$2000 price tag.

The GPD Win 5 also boasts several other unique features. The device is the first to include a Mini SSD card slot, offering significantly faster read and write speeds compared to traditional Micro SD cards. The Mini SSD cards are manufactured by Baiwei. Additionally, the Win 5 can be combined with Bazzite for enhanced Steam gaming, or with a graphics dock and a Bazzite desktop environment to create a high-end Steam gaming console.
