HMD is known as one of the few remaining brands still working in the feature (basics) phone segment, in spite of the growing popularity of smartphones. The brand has introduced the HMD 100 and HMD 101 in India to offer a reliable and low-cost option.
Both phones run on the S30+ operating system and are powered by the Unisoc 6533G processor. They also have the same screen size — 1.77 inches — with a 170 x 128 resolution.
The HMD 100 comes in Grey and Red colorways, while the higher-tier HMD 101 is available in Grey and Blue.
For memory and storage, the HMD 100 has 8MB of RAM and 4MB of internal storage, while the HMD 101 has 4MB of RAM and 4MB of storage. However, the HMD 101 supports a microSD card, which the HMD 100 does not.
In terms of battery, the HMD 100 houses an 800mAh battery with 2.75W charging, while the HMD 101 has a 1,000mAh battery with the same charging speed and micro-USB support.
One of the most notable features of the phones is the nostalgic “Snake” game, which was the most popular game during the Nokia era.
The phones also have essential smart features like FM radio, a torch, text-to-speech, and a 3.5mm audio jack for listening to music.
Both phones are now available for purchase in India via the HMD website. The HMD 100 is priced at an introductory rate of ₹949 (down from the original ₹1,099), while the HMD 101 has an introductory price of ₹1,049 (from the original ₹1,199).
