Huawei has launched its first foldable laptop, the “Huawei MateBook Fold | Ultimate Design”. The device is now available for pre-order via the Vmall website in China for CNY 23,999 or about ₱185,563 (direct conversion to Philippine peso). The release date is scheduled for June 6th, 2025.
Huawei MateBook Fold: A First Foldable Laptop
The Huawei MateBook Fold sports a large 18″ 3.3K resolution LTPO OLED display. When opened, it has a 4:3 aspect ratio, but when folded into a laptop form, the screen measures 13″ with a 3:2 aspect ratio.
It has a dual-layer OLED LTPO panel that lights up to 1,600 nits peak brightness and features 1,440Hz PWM dimming. According to the brand, the dual-layer structure reduces power usage by 30% while tripling the expected life of the panel. Furthermore, it is protected by a non-Newtonian fluid and a carbon fiber support layer.
Aside from that, Huawei also built an ultra-thin 5mm wireless keyboard with 1.5mm key travel. It is made of aluminum alloy and weighs about 209 grams.
The back design is crafted with silicon leather, with dimensions of 382.5 mm x 288.5 mm, and is flattened to about 7.9 mm thin when opened and about 14.9 mm thick when closed. This foldable laptop comes in three color options: Forging Shadow Black, Cloud Water Blue, and Skyline White.
Under the hood, the foldable laptop is powered by the Kirin X90 SoC and paired with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB or 2TB SSD. It runs on HarmonyOS 5 PC with Hongmeng AI features.
Other details include a 74.69 Wh battery coupled with 140-watt charging via USB Type-C, a fingerprint scanner in the power button, four microphones, and six speakers. It also supports Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, Bluetooth 5.2, and includes an 8MP front-facing camera.
