Huawei has officially announced the upcoming release of the Huawei MatePad Mini in China. This compact tablet is scheduled to debut alongside the Huawei Mate XTs on September 4, 2025, at 2:30 PM (GMT+8), according to official listings. Pre-orders are currently being accepted.

Huawei’s New Compact Tablet with 8.8″ Display
Huawei has dropped a teaser with the hashtag #superstrong, hinting at flagship-level performance in a small form factor. Early leaks from Gizmochina and other reputable leakers on Weibo suggest that the Huawei MatePad Mini will feature an 8.8″ OLED display. The screen is said to have a 16:10 aspect ratio with ultra-slim bezels and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The tablet reportedly comes in two model variants: a Wi-Fi version and a SIM version. However, these two models have different processors. The Wi-Fi version will be powered by the Kirin T92, while the SIM version will be equipped with the Kirin 9020.
Digital Chat Station on Weibo also shared the possible color options for this new compact tablet, which include Obsidian Black, Snow White, and Spruce Green. In addition, it was mentioned that it will feature NearLink support and, obviously, 5G connectivity.
Despite its compact size, it also comes with a slim profile, measuring 5mm thick and weighing around 260 grams. Other leaked features include HarmonyOS 5, a massive 6,500 mAh battery with 66W fast charging, and an anti-glare display.
While the full specifications and price remain under wraps, the tablet hints at flagship-level features and performance in a compact form factor. It will be available for purchase at vmall.com and other reputable stores in China on September 4, alongside the new Huawei Mate Xts.
