Here’s what we know!
Resident Evil Village, the latest installment in the popular survival horror franchise, is now available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPad devices with the A17 Pro chip. The game, which was originally released in 2021 for PC and consoles, has been optimized for mobile platforms with the help of MetalFX, a new technology that enhances graphics performance and quality. So! How MetalFX Enhances Resident Evil Village on iPhone 15 Pro?
MetalFX is a proprietary feature of the A17 Pro chip that allows developers to leverage the power of machine learning and neural networks to upscale low-resolution textures and models to higher resolutions, while preserving details and reducing artifacts. This results in a more immersive and realistic gaming experience, comparable to PC settings.
According to Capcom, the developer of Resident Evil Village, the game offers three graphics modes on iPhone 15 Pro and iPad: Performance, Balanced, and Quality. Performance mode prioritizes frame rate and aims to maintain 60 frames per second (FPS) at full HD+ resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). Balanced mode balances frame rate and graphics quality and targets 45 FPS at full HD+ resolution. Quality mode focuses on graphics quality and delivers 30 FPS at full HD+ resolution.
Capcom also claims that the game supports ray tracing, a technique that simulates realistic lighting effects, such as shadows, reflections, and refractions. Ray tracing is enabled by default in Quality mode and can be toggled on or off in Performance and Balanced modes.
Resident Evil Village for iPhone 15 Pro and iPad also features touch controls, haptic feedback, spatial audio, iCloud save support, and controller compatibility. The game costs $39.99 for the base game and $19.99 for the Winters’ Expansion DLC, which adds new story content and gameplay features.
Resident Evil Village is one of the first AAA games to take advantage of the A17 Pro chip and MetalFX technology. Other games that have been announced or released for iPhone 15 Pro and iPad with similar features include Resident Evil 4, Death Stranding, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
