iQOO 12 Series: Everything You Need to Know About the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Phones with 120W Charging and 144Hz Displays
The iQOO 12 and iQOO 12 Pro are the upcoming flagship smartphones from vivo’s sub-brand iQOO. They are scheduled to launch on November 7 in China, and they will be among the first devices to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which is the latest and most powerful chipset from the American company.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is based on a 4nm process and has a tri-cluster architecture with one Cortex-X4 core clocked at up to 3.30 GHz, five Cortex-A720 cores with three at 3.15 GHz and two at 2.96 GHz, and two Cortex-A520 cores at 2.27 GHz. The chipset also has an Adreno GPU, a Hexagon DSP, a Spectra ISP, and a Snapdragon X65 5G modem.
According to a Geekbench listing, the iQOO 12 Pro scored 2,235 points in the single-core test and 6,912 points in the multi-core test, running on Android 14 with 16 GB of RAM. These scores are impressive and indicate that the iQOO 12 Pro will be a performance beast.
Another highlight of the iQOO 12 series is the fast charging technology. Both the iQOO 12 and iQOO 12 Pro will support vivo’s 120W FlashCharge technology, which can charge a phone from zero to 100 percent in just about 15 minutes. The iQOO 12 is expected to have a 5,000 mAh battery, while the iQOO 12 Pro will have a slightly larger 5,100 mAh battery.
The iQOO 12 series will also boast of impressive cameras. Both phones will have a triple camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50 MP OmniVision OV50H primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 64 MP OmniVision OV64B telephoto sensor with periscope zoom. The telephoto camera will offer up to 3x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. The same camera configuration was used on the OnePlus Open, which received rave reviews for its photography capabilities.
On the front, both phones will have a single selfie camera with a resolution of 16 MP. The display size and resolution will differ between the two models. The iQOO 12 will have a flat 6.78-inch BOE OLED display with a resolution of 1.5K (2160 x 1440 pixels), a refresh rate of 144 Hz, a peak brightness of 3000 nits, and PWM dimming of up to 2160 Hz. The iQOO 12 Pro will have a curved 6.78-inch Samsung E7 AMOLED display with a resolution of 2K (2560 x1440 pixels), a refresh rate of 144 Hz, a peak brightness of 2700 nits, and PWM dimming of up to 1440 Hz. Both phones will have an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.
To enhance the gaming experience, both phones will also have a dedicated Q1 gaming chip developed by vivo. This chip will help optimize the display performance, reduce power consumption, and improve heat dissipation. The phones will also have dual stereo speakers and an X-axis linear motor for immersive sound and haptic feedback.
The iQOO 12 series will run on Android 14 with Origin OS4.0 custom skin on top. Origin OS is vivo’s new operating system that replaces Funtouch OS. It offers a revamped user interface, improved performance, and new features.
The iQOO 12 series is expected to be priced competitively in China. According to some leaks, the iQOO 12 Pro could start from CNY4,999 ($780) for the base variant with
8 GB RAM and256 GB storage, while the iQOO 12 could start from CNY3,999 ($625) for the same configuration. The phones will be available in two color options: White Legend Edition and Black Race Edition.
