Mobile gaming received a significant upgrade for MediaTek users of PC game emulators. GameSir, a leading mobile gaming accessory manufacturer, announced today that its popular GameHub emulator now offers dramatically improved support for PC game emulation on Android devices powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 to 9400 series chipsets.

How GameSir Achieved the Performance Leap

Previously, GameHub, and similar emulators like Winlator, were best optimized for Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. However, GameSir has worked extensively to bridge the performance gap, resulting in a significant leap forward for Dimensity users. The company claims that these improvements now allow for smooth emulation of DirectX 9 to 11 PC games, offering performance comparable to, and in some instances surpassing, Qualcomm’s Adreno GPUs.

This breakthrough is the result of several key advancements. GameSir engineers focused on improving the Vulkan implementation for Mali GPUs found within Dimensity chips, addressing issues with missing drivers and unstable shader compilers. A key element was the creation of a novel “code conversion mechanism” designed to effectively translate DirectX instructions into a format compatible with Mali GPUs. Furthermore, runtime optimizations were implemented to handle situations where standard drivers were inadequate.

The collaboration extended to MediaTek itself. GameSir worked closely with the chip manufacturer to develop Mali-specific drivers tailored for PC game emulation. This direct collaboration underscores the commitment to enhancing the mobile gaming experience on Dimensity-powered devices.

The implications of this improvement are significant. The Dimensity series is a popular choice for many Android smartphones, and this enhanced emulation capability opens the door to a broader range of PC games for these users. The positive effects may also extend beyond Dimensity devices. Given that Google’s Tensor chips also utilize Mali graphics, future improvements could potentially benefit Google Pixel phone users as well. GameSir confirmed this possibility to Android Authority.

This development marks a noteworthy step forward in mobile gaming technology, narrowing the performance gap between different mobile chipsets and expanding the library of playable titles for Android gamers. The improved emulation capabilities promise a more enjoyable and immersive experience for a large segment of the mobile gaming community.
