Xiaomi has recently announced its new operating system, HyperOS, which promises to bring a host of new features and improvements to its devices. Among the devices that are expected to receive the HyperOS update are the POCO F5 and F5 Pro, two of the popular models from Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO.
The POCO F5 and F5 Pro were launched in May 2023 with Android 13-based MIUI 14 for POCO. According to Xiaomiui, a website that tracks Xiaomi’s firmware updates, the HyperOS test builds for the two devices have been spotted, confirming that they will soon be upgraded to the new OS.
The HyperOS update for the POCO F5 will have firmware version OS1.0.0.1.UMRMIXM, while the POCO F5 Pro will have firmware versions OS1.0.0.3.UMNMIXM and OS1.0.0.3.UMNEUXM for the global and European versions, respectively.
HyperOS is a new operating system from Xiaomi that is designed to be more lightweight and performance-oriented than MIUI. It is also said to be more customizable and offer a more user-friendly interface. The OS also brings seamless cross-device collaboration between multiple devices.
Xiaomi has officially announced the roadmap and initial list of devices that will receive the HyperOS update. The update will be rolled out to Xiaomi and Redmi devices in China first, followed by the first batch release of HyperOS for international devices starting in Q1 2024.
It is not clear when exactly the POCO F5 and F5 Pro will receive the HyperOS update, but it is likely that they will be among the first POCO devices to get it, given their popularity and specifications.
The POCO F5 features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 7+ gen1 processor, a 64MP quad-camera setup, a 16MP selfie camera, a 5000mAh battery with 67W fast charging, and up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The POCO F5 Pro has a similar display and battery as the F5, but it comes with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 processor, a 64MP quad-camera setup, a 16MP selfie camera, and up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Both devices support 5G connectivity and have stereo speakers, an IR blaster, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The POCO F5 and F5 Pro are currently priced at PHP 16,000 and PHP 25,000 respectively for the base variant.
