A leaked Pokémon Remake is rumored to include MMO elements, generating excitement among Pokémon fans. According to leaks, Game Freak is developing a massive multiplayer online (MMO) remake that could bridge multiple regions, including Hoenn and Sinnoh. The project, allegedly codenamed “Seed,” reportedly aims to revolutionize the franchise by blending open-world exploration with persistent online connectivity—a feature long requested by the community.

According to reputable Pokémon insider CentroLeaks, the game is in early development for Nintendo’s rumored Switch 2, slated for release in late 2027. The leak claims “Seed” will merge Hoenn (Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire) and Sinnoh (Pokémon Diamond/Pearl) into a seamless open world, allowing players to traverse between regions without loading screens. Later tweets hint at expansions incorporating Kanto and Johto (Red/Blue and Gold/Silver), effectively creating a unified map of Japan-inspired locales.

The project is said to prioritize MMO elements, including shared hubs, cooperative raids, and player-vs-player (PvP) arenas. While specifics remain unconfirmed, the leak aligns with Game Freak’s 2023 job listings seeking developers experienced in “large-scale online systems” and “open-world design,” fueling speculation about ambitious multiplayer features.

The alleged MMO would expand on the limited co-op introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (2022), which allowed four players to explore Paldea together. However, “Seed” reportedly aims for a persistent online world with hundreds of trainers interacting simultaneously—a leap closer to fan-favorite concepts like Pokémon Horizons, a popular but unofficial MMO mod.

Insiders caution that “Seed” remains in early prototyping, with a release unlikely before 2027. The game is expected to follow Pokémon Legends: Z-A (officially confirmed for 2025) and a hypothetical Gen 10 title, tentatively dubbed Wind and Waves by leakers. Creating a multi-region game poses significant technical hurdles, as seen in Scarlet/Violet’s performance issues, prompting speculation that the Switch 2’s upgraded hardware could better support such a vast project.

The “Seed” leak follows a wave of premature revelations, including details about Legends: Z-A’s Lumiose City overhaul and Gen 10’s rumored focus on “time manipulation” mechanics. While Nintendo has historically cracked down on leaks, the breadth of recent claims suggests ambitious long-term plans for the franchise.

Industry experts remain cautiously optimistic. Dr. Serkan Toto of Kantan Games notes, “An MMO could tap into the global success of Pokémon GO’s social gameplay, but scaling a mainline title to that level requires unprecedented resources. Game Freak may partner with a studio like Tencent or Niantic to share the burden.”

Neither Nintendo nor Game Freak has commented on the leaks. Meanwhile, fans are already theorizing about potential features, from region-specific Gym Leader co-op battles to dynamic events like Sinnoh’s “Shaymin Sky Forme” migrations.

While the prospect of a Pokémon MMO remains unconfirmed, the fusion of Hoenn and Sinnoh—two of the franchise’s most beloved regions—has reignited hopes for a truly interconnected Pokémon world. For now, trainers are advised to temper expectations until an official announcement, likely tied to the Switch 2’s reveal in 2024.
