Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Series: Next-Gen Chip to Launch Soon

Following the successful launch of the Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus last year, Qualcomm is reportedly launching its next-generation Snapdragon X2 series this year. The company notably pushes chipsets for PCs and laptops, focusing on energy efficiency, performance, and AI processing support.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Series Chips Unveiled Soon

Last year, the Snapdragon X Elite featured custom Oryon cores based on the Phoenix design from Nuvia, a Qualcomm subsidiary, aiming to compete with Apple’s M-series chips. While the Snapdragon X Elite used Oryon cores based on the Nuvia Phoenix design, there’s no confirmation that this architecture carries over to the X2 series. Now, the Snapdragon X2 series may soon include a new “Ultra Premium” tier. The Snapdragon X2 chips are expected to significantly impact the market, challenging competitors like Apple, Intel, and AMD.

One aspect other brands haven’t focused on is integrated AI features, an area Qualcomm is developing, as seen in its predecessors. Leaks on X also reveal ongoing work on the Snapdragon X2 Ultra Premium, the top-tier and most powerful model in the lineup.

The Snapdragon X2 Elite, X2 Plus, and X2 Ultra Premium are expected to offer improved performance, an upgraded NPU, enhanced AI capabilities, and better graphics than their predecessors and competitors. This could help Qualcomm challenge Apple’s M4 chip and other competitors.

The upcoming Snapdragon X2 series represents a significant advance and strong competition in the market, leveraging Qualcomm’s acquisition of Nuvia and focusing on AI integration to compete aggressively in the high-performance laptop and PC chip market. The addition of an “Ultra Premium” tier suggests Qualcomm is aiming for the top spot, directly challenging established players like Apple, AMD, and Intel.
