Realme has officially confirmed the display details of the upcoming Realme Neo 8 ahead of its launch in China next week. The information was revealed during a screen technology communication meeting, where Mr. Park Joon-yong, Head of Technology for Samsung Display China, outlined the key characteristics of the panel developed in collaboration with realme.
According to Samsung Display, the Realme Neo 8 will feature a 165Hz Samsung E-sports display (Sky Display) built using the company’s M14 flagship luminescent material. The panel is designed through close integration between the chip and the screen, enabling the hardware’s 165 frames per second capability to be translated into a consistently smooth and responsive on-screen experience.
In terms of brightness, the display reaches a peak brightness of up to 6,500 nits, with a typical brightness level of 3,800 nits and manual brightness rated at 1,000 nits. Samsung Display also noted a 26 percent improvement in screen transmittance, which contributes to clearer visuals. Color reproduction covers 103 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut, targeting accurate and vivid image output.
Efficiency and durability were also highlighted during the presentation. Compared to 144Hz panels, the Neo 8’s display reportedly reduces power consumption by 16 percent, while panel lifespan has been improved by 50 percent. The screen has undergone TÜV Rheinland testing, completing a 1,500-hour long-life validation process.
For gaming-focused usage, the 165Hz panel supports high-frame-rate performance across more than 30 games with native 165Hz support. Realme and Samsung Display stated that frame stability has been improved by 27 percent, while input latency has been reduced by 12 percent. The display is optimized for five major game genres, including FPS, MOBA, racing, fighting, and rhythm games.
Touch performance is another key aspect of the Neo 8’s display. It features an instant touch sampling rate of up to 3,800Hz, with a finger touch sampling rate of 360Hz. Touch response latency has been reduced by 10ms, and the device introduces a new-generation ultra-sensitive touch control system, marking its first commercial launch.
Eye protection features are also included, with full-brightness DC dimming and near-zero flicker rated at an SVM value below 0.05. The panel carries TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification and supports AI-based eye protection features, along with a dedicated green-field eye-care mode.
The Realme Neo 8 is scheduled to launch in China next week, with reports pointing to January 22 as the likely announcement date.
