Qualcomm has officially launched the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, designed to equip flagship smartphones from brands like Xiaomi and other tech giants. The company claims it will be the world’s fastest system-on-chip in terms of performance, efficiency, and on-device AI processing. This new flagship chip was officially introduced at the “Snapdragon Summit 2025” event in Maui, Hawaii.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is designed to enhance multitasking, gaming experiences, and personalized AI assistants. It is also the world’s first mobile platform to support recording in the Advanced Professional Video (APV) codec, which is suitable for professional-grade video production.
Compared to the previous generation, CPU performance is improved by 20%, GPU performance by 23%, and NPU performance by 37%. Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile handsets at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., stated that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 “puts you at the center of your mobile experience, allowing personalized AI agents to see what you see, hear what you hear, and think with you in real time.“
The platform is manufactured on a 3nm process by TSMC, featuring the 3rd Gen Oryon CPU. The configurations include 2x Prime cores clocked at 4.6 GHz, 6x Performance cores at 3.2 GHz, complemented by the new Adreno 840 GPU at 1.2 GHz. The AnTuTu benchmark score of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has also been circulating online, where it achieved an impressive score of over 4 million.
