Fresh details about Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset have emerged via reliable tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) on Weibo. The leaks reveal a flagship-tier system-on-chip (SoC) designed to balance raw power with thermal efficiency, and confirm its adoption in upcoming devices like the OnePlus Ace 6 Turbo and Vivo S50 Pro mini.

The chip is reportedly built on TSMC’s cutting-edge 3nm N3P node and utilizes Qualcomm’s 3rd generation custom Oryon CPU architecture. This CPU configuration is the same as that on the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
CPU and GPU Configuration:
- 2 × 3.8GHz high-performance cores
- 6 × 3.32GHz efficiency cores
While the Adreno 840 GPU shares the same intellectual property (IP) as the premium-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, DCS notes it operates at a lower frequency (~1.2GHz) and smaller scale. This suggests a slight downgrade in graphics performance compared to its Elite counterpart.
Benchmark Performance:
- Geekbench 6: 3,000 (single-core), 10,000 (multi-core)
- AnTuTu v10: 3.3 million points
- Aztec Ruins 1440p: ~100 fps (GPU stress test)
These figures position the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5’s CPU performance on par with the Elite variant; however, its GPU performance is approximately 10-15% lower, according to DCS.
The chip is tipped to debut in late 2025, with the OnePlus Ace 6 Turbo and Vivo S50 Pro Mini among the first devices to utilize the chip.
As with all leaks, specifications remain unconfirmed until Qualcomm’s official unveiling, expected later this year.
