MANILA, PHILIPPINES – May 19, 2025 – Starlink, the satellite internet provider, has announced a price increase for its residential service in the Philippines, effective May 16, 2025. The monthly subscription fee has jumped from PHP 2,700 to PHP 3,800.

This significant price hike has prompted a mixed reaction from subscribers. While Starlink has stated that existing customers will receive a service credit to offset the difference in cost on their next bill, concerns remain about the affordability of the service for many Filipinos.
The company has attempted to mitigate potential backlash by offering a full refund for both hardware and service within 30 days of purchase. For those who purchased hardware within the last year, a 50% refund is available. This policy is designed to accommodate users who may no longer wish to subscribe given the increased cost.
The price increase only applies to the monthly subscription fee; the one-time cost for the Starlink hardware kit remains unchanged. However, prospective customers will now face the higher monthly fee immediately.
While Starlink has not publicly commented on the reasons for the price increase, industry analysts speculate that rising operational costs and the ongoing global economic situation may be contributing factors. The impact of this price adjustment on Starlink’s market share in the competitive Philippine internet market remains to be seen. Further analysis will be needed to determine the long-term implications of this decision.
