Valve’s latest handheld gaming device, the Steam Deck OLED, is now available for pre-order in the Philippines through Datablitz, a local retailer of video games and consoles. The Steam Deck OLED is an upgraded version of the Steam Deck, which was announced earlier this year as a portable PC that can run Steam games.
Steam Deck OLED specs, price and availability
The Steam Deck OLED features a 7.4-inch OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 50Wh battery that can last up to 8 hours, Wi-Fi 6E support, and a redesigned kickstand.
The device also has the same AMD Zen 2 CPU and RDNA 2 GPU as the original Steam Deck, as well as a custom SteamOS that can run Windows games and applications.
The Steam Deck OLED comes in two storage options: 512GB and 1TB, both of which are NVMe SSDs that can be expanded via a microSD card slot.
The 512GB variant is priced at Php 39,995, while the 1TB variant is priced at Php 49,995. These prices are higher than the US prices of $549 and $649, respectively, due to shipping and tax costs.
According to Datablitz, the Steam Deck OLED is expected to arrive in the Philippines by Q2 2024. Customers who pre-order the device will need to pay a 10% non-refundable deposit and present a valid ID upon claiming their order.
Datablitz also warns that there may be delays or cancellations due to the global chip shortage and other factors.
The Steam Deck OLED is one of the most awaited gaming devices of 2024, as it promises to deliver a high-end PC gaming experience on a handheld form factor.
The device will compete with other gaming handhelds such as the Nintendo Switch OLED, the ROG Ally, and the Legion Go, as well as cloud gaming services such as Google Stadia and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
