TECNO recently unveiled its latest camera innovations during the Future Lens event. These cutting-edge technologies are expected to be featured in future TECNO Phantom X devices. Let’s take a closer look at the two groundbreaking camera advancements introduced by TECNO.
How TECNO’s W-shaped adjustable aperture mimics the cuttlefish eye to reduce glare
The first innovation is the variable aperture lens, which takes inspiration from the eye of a cuttlefish. TECNO refers to it as a W-shaped adjustable aperture. This unique technology aims to eliminate glare in challenging lighting conditions, such as strong backlight. By incorporating the W-shaped shutter, TECNO aims to deliver exceptional image quality in various scenarios. The specific sensor and lens combination used with this aperture are yet to be disclosed by the brand.
Liquid Periscope Telephoto Lens
In addition to the variable aperture, TECNO also introduced the industry’s first liquid telephoto macro lens. While liquid lenses have been used before, this marks the first time they have been integrated into a periscope shooter. The challenge of achieving macro focusing within the limited space of a periscope lens has been overcome by TECNO’s innovative approach. By using voltage to adjust the lens curvature, TECNO achieves dynamic adaptation from long to narrow, enabling macro focusing as close as 5cm. Furthermore, the liquid lens design allows for the utilization of a larger sensor, enhancing image quality.
TECNO’s universal Tone technology: a breakthrough in AI-based skin tone imaging
TECNO also showcased its universal Tone technology, which utilizes three AI-powered engines to perfect skin tones in images. The Multi-Skin Tone Restoration Engine calibrates and adjusts skin tones based on color spectral matrix research. The Local-Tuning Engine recognizes people within the frame and optimizes tone mapping, resulting in more striking photos. Lastly, the Computational Portrait Engine adds an aesthetic touch to the overall image.
