Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) is turning heads in performance cars with the all-new GR GT3 – a ground-up sports car gearing up for racetracks and public roads. First shown as a concept at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon, it will replace the aging Lexus RC F GT3 as TGR’s flagship GT3 racer, aligning with the brand’s “motorsport-bred for the road” philosophy. On timing: initial plans targeted a 2026 race debut, possibly at the Daytona 24 Hours – but recent reports suggest its World Endurance Championship (WEC) launch may shift to 2027, though it could still compete in non-homologated events like the Nürburgring 24 Hours or Japan’s Super Taikyu series earlier.

In the meantime, the car has been putting miles on the road (and track) all over the world – spotted testing everywhere from Japan’s Fuji Speedway and Motegi circuits to Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps. Its bold design stands out right away: a long hood, big swan-neck rear wing, and wide fenders that hint at the speed and agility it’s built for.

Under the hood and behind the badge, details are taking shape too. It’s expected to run on a punchy twin-turbo V8 engine, with a hybrid setup probably in the works for the road version. Rumors also suggest it’ll sport a Lexus badge in North America and Toyota badging elsewhere – a move that would tailor it to different global markets.

Finally, production is likely to take place atToyota’s Motomachi factory in Japan – the very same place that built the legendary Lexus LFA. That means drivers can expect the top-tier build quality TGR is known for when the GR GT3 launches globally in the coming years.
