Xiaomi is reportedly working on a new premium tablet, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro, which is expected to launch in April 2024. The device is said to feature a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, a 10-inch IPS LCD display with a 144 Hz refresh rate, and a HyperOS overlay based on Android 14. Unlike its predecessors, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro may also be released globally, along with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra flagship smartphone.
A powerful processor and a high-quality display
The Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro is rumored to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which is the latest and most advanced processor from Qualcomm. The chipset is based on a 4 nm process and offers improved performance and efficiency over the previous generation. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is also the first processor to support the new Snapdragon Sound technology, which delivers high-quality audio and low-latency wireless connectivity.
The tablet is also expected to sport a 10-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2.8K and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The display is likely to support Dolby Vision and HDR10 technologies, which enhance the color and contrast of the screen. The display size is slightly smaller than the previous Xiaomi Pad 6, which had an 11-inch IPS LCD screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It also boasts a 10,000 mAh battery that supports 120W fast charging.
A global launch and a companion smartphone
According to a report, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro will not be exclusive to China and will be launched globally. The report claims that the source code of HyperOS, the new Android skin from Xiaomi, contains a reference to a global firmware build for the tablet. This means that the device could be available in other markets, such as Europe and India, where Xiaomi has a strong presence.
The launch of the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro is expected to take place in April 2024, together with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra smartphone, which is also rumored to be a premium device. The smartphone is said to feature a Leica camera, a 6.8-inch OLED display with a 240Hz refresh rate, and a 5,000 mAh battery with 120W fast charging. However, the smartphone may be initially limited to the Chinese market, as was the case with the previous Xiaomi 13 Ultra.
A promising tablet for the Android ecosystem
The Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro is shaping up to be a promising tablet for the Android ecosystem, which lacks many high-end options compared to the iOS platform. The tablet is expected to offer a powerful performance, a high-quality display, and a global availability. The Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro may also appeal to those who are looking for a versatile and productive device that can work well with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra smartphone.
