A recent post by a tipster on Weibo has revealed that Xiaomi is rebranding the Redmi K Pad, its recently launched Android tablet in China, for global markets as the Xiaomi Pad Mini. According to the leak, the device will carry a “higher positioning” under the Xiaomi brand, aiming to compete directly with Apple’s iPad lineup.

Xiaomi Pad Mini Expected Specs
The Xiaomi Pad Mini is expected to retain the core hardware of the Redmi K Pad. This includes an 8.8-inch LCD display with a 3K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, housed in an all-metal unibody design. The tablet measures 6.4mm in thickness and weighs 326 grams, emphasizing portability.
Under the hood, the device is equipped with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400+ chipset, paired with a 12,050mm² aviation-grade VC cooling system to manage thermal performance. It includes a 7,500mAh battery supporting 67W fast charging, a 13MP rear camera, and an 8MP front-facing camera. Software-wise, it will run Android 15 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2 interface. Additional features include a dual-axis linear motor for haptic feedback and Dolby Atmos-tuned quad speakers.
In China, the Redmi K Pad starts at CNY 2,799 (roughly PHP 22,000), though global pricing for the Xiaomi Pad Mini remains unconfirmed. The device’s launch timeline is also unclear, but industry sources suggest a potential release in the third quarter of 2025. If priced competitively, it could challenge Apple’s dominance in the compact tablet segment, particularly in emerging markets.
