Xiaomi has announced the imminent launch of the XRing 01 smartphone chip. This new chip, independently developed and designed by Xiaomi, is rumored to be an octa-core processor based on TSMC’s 4nm process node. Initially rumored to be partnered with Imagination Technologies and an IMG DXT72 GPU, the chip was officially announced with an Immortalis-G925 MC16 GPU.

Xiaomi XRing 01 Launch Later this Month (May, 2025)
As per reports, Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, revealed the chip’s name: XRing 01 on Weibo. This chip was silently developed over a decade, starting in September 2014.
For the past years, Xiaomi has developed many chips, including the Surge S1, Xiaomi’s first in-house SoC, built on a 28nm process in 2017. It featured an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU, Mali-T860 MP4 GPU, and debuted in the Mi 5c.
In 2021, the Surge C1 (a custom Image Signal Processor or ISP) and Surge P1 (an in-house power management chip for fast charging) were announced.
In 2022, the Surge G1 (for battery management) and Surge T1 (a security chip used for encryption and secure data storage) were also launched.
This year, 2025, Lei Jun said it will be officially launched later this month (May 2025).
According to leaker Fix Focus Digital, the XRing 01 chip is fabricated on TSMC’s 3nm process node, dubbed N3E. The architecture is a 2+4+2+2 decacore setup, with a two Cortex-X95 prime cores running at 3.9GHz, four Cortex-A725 mid cores running at 3.4GHz, two Cortex-A725 @1.9Ghz and two Cortex-A520 efficiency cores clocking at 1.8GHz.
XRing 01 is paired with Immortalis-G925 MC16 GPU with a 1.3 GHz clock speed. The GPU is comparable to the Adreno 740, or may even surpass its performance, based on leaks.
Other details suggest this could incorporate their own self-developed Image Signal Processor (ISP) and a 5G modem from MediaTek. In addition, rumors suggest that the Xiaomi 15s could be the first to use this XRing 01 chipset.
