Xiaomi 18 Pro Max Launched in China with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, Dual 200MP Cameras and 8,500mAh Battery

Xiaomi has officially launched the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max in China alongside the standard Xiaomi 18 Pro. The Pro Max is the first smartphone to use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset and combines it with a dual-200MP Leica camera system, a 6.9-inch 2K display, and an 8,500mAh battery.

The phone also features a 2.9-inch rear AMOLED display, 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, a customizable AI button, UWB connectivity, and Xiaomi’s new privacy display technology.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is the first phone to come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. This new top platform sits above the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 that the Xiaomi 18 Pro uses.

The chipset is built for high-end performance and supports advanced AI and gaming features. It also enables 8K video recording at up to 60 frames per second on the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max.

6.9-Inch 2K AMOLED Display

It features a large 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a 2624 × 1208 resolution and a 1–120Hz LTPO refresh rate.

The panel reaches up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness and supports 10-bit color, full-range DC dimming, and up to 300Hz touch sampling.

Xiaomi also adds its new privacy display technology, which can be enabled globally or for selected apps and pages. The feature can also be activated through the dedicated AI button.

2.9-Inch Rear AMOLED Display

One of the phone’s most distinctive features is its 2.9-inch AMOLED display on the rear.

The secondary screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate and can display notifications, the time, battery information, widgets, and other controls. It can also act as a viewfinder, allowing users to frame photos using the main rear cameras.

The rear panel reaches up to 4,000 nits, making it suitable for viewing information outdoors.

Dual 200MP Leica Cameras

For photography, it features a Leica-branded triple-camera system with two 200MP sensors.

The setup includes a 200MP main camera, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. The periscope telephoto supports 3.2x optical zoom and can focus as close as 12cm for telephoto macro photography.

The phone also supports Leica Summilux optics and Leica imaging features, along with OpenGate video recording for greater flexibility when cropping and stabilizing footage during post-production.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform also enables 8K video recording at 60fps.

8,500mAh Battery With 100W Charging

The phone packs an 8,500mAh battery, making it one of the largest battery capacities in Xiaomi’s flagship lineup.

It supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The phone also supports 27W wired reverse charging and 20W wireless reverse charging.

Xiaomi includes its Surge P4 fast-charging chip and Surge G2 battery management chip for charging and battery-management functions.

AI Button and UWB Support

The dedicated AI button provides quick access to functions such as the camera, privacy mode, and Xiaomi’s AI assistant. It can be customized for different tasks.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max also supports UWB connectivity, which can be used for precise location-based functions and compatible digital car keys.
