Qualcomm has officially launched the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip, built on a 3nm TSMC node. It features two prime cores clocked at 3.8GHz and six performance cores clocked at 3.32GHz. The chip is paired with the Adreno 840 GPU, which is also used in the flagship-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

The chip is said to offer a 36% improvement in CPU tasks and an 11% improvement in GPU performance compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. For AI capabilities, it is said to provide up to a 46% improvement in AI tasks and an 11% improvement in power consumption.

In related news, according to tipster Anvin on X, the first phone to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip is the OnePlus Ace 6T, which was unveiled today alongside the debut of this new-generation chip. The global variant will debut as the OnePlus 15R, slated for global release on December 15.
A tipster also mentioned that apart from the OnePlus Ace 6T (OnePlus 15R), iQOO, Vivo, and Motorola will also use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 in the future.
