Playground Games has shared a fresh look at its upcoming Fable reboot, unveiling new gameplay footage during the Xbox Developer Direct livestream. The gameplay teaser is now available on the official PlayStation and Xbox YouTube channels, where the studio also confirmed that the game is scheduled to launch in Autumn 2026.
The title marks the first full reboot of the long-running Fable series and returns players to the fantasy world of Albion. Playground Games said the new entry retains familiar elements from earlier games, including interactive non-player characters, long-running visual gags such as chicken kicking, and a tone rooted in British humour. Player choice and consequence remain central to the experience, with decisions shaping both the story and the game world.

Albion is presented as a large open world featuring recognizable locations such as Bowerstone. According to the studio, NPCs follow daily routines and respond directly to player actions. Economic decisions can affect public opinion, with examples including villagers reacting negatively to eviction or responding positively when players create businesses and offer jobs. Playground noted that the game includes more than 1,000 unique NPCs, all of whom can be interacted with, married, and even started families with.
Character creation allows players to design their own hero, while combat combines melee weapons, ranged attacks, and magic. The system allows players to switch between combat styles without interruption. Narrative choices, even minor ones, can have lasting effects. One example shown involved defeating a giant character named Dave, whose death leaves lasting environmental and social consequences for nearby settlements.
The game will release on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5, making it the first Fable title to launch on a PlayStation platform. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one across console, PC, and cloud. Pre-orders and wishlists are now live, with further details on the game expected to be revealed ahead of its release.
