What’s new in HiOS 16
TECNO is focusing on a more fluid and streamlined user experience with this release. The update introduces a “Superfluidity” design language, with smoother animations and cleaner transitions across the system.
A redesigned “Minus One Screen” also debuts, acting as a hub for quick tools, smart services, and real-time translation features in one place.
On the AI side, HiOS 16 adds AIGC-powered tools, including an AI Art Gallery and upgraded photo editing through AI LightMaster 2.0. These features are designed to make on-device content creation easier without relying heavily on third-party apps.
Under the hood, TECNO is rolling out performance tweaks such as Sensory Scheduling 2.0, which prioritizes active apps, and MemFusion 3.0 for improved background app handling.
Availability and device support
TECNO stated that most smartphones released from 2024 onward are expected to be eligible for the update, although actual rollout will vary by model, region, and carrier. Notably, the POVA Curve 5G and POVA Slim 5G have already been confirmed to receive the update despite not being part of the initial rollout list. Meanwhile, Tecno Mobile Nigeria announced on X that the Camon 50 series is now receiving HiOS 16.
As with previous updates, the rollout will happen in stages, meaning not all users will receive it at the same time. TECNO also noted that certain features may vary depending on hardware capabilities.
For now, users are advised to keep an eye on official announcements for more precise release windows in their region.
