MediaTek has officially unveiled the Dimensity 9600 Pro, its first smartphone chipset built on a 2nm process. The new flagship chip brings an all-big-core CPU design, faster AI performance, improved graphics, and support for LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage. But which phones will be among the very first to run it? Vivo and OPPO are set to lead the way with upcoming devices powered by MediaTek’s latest flagship chipset.
Dimensity 9600 Pro Specifications and Performance
The Dimensity 9600 Pro uses a 2+3+3 all-big-core CPU design. It has two C2-Ultra cores clocked at up to 4.55GHz, three C2-Pro cores at up to 4.35GHz, and three more C2-Pro cores running at up to 3.1GHz.
Compared with the previous generation, MediaTek says the Dimensity 9600 Pro delivers up to 17 percent higher single-core performance and up to 15 percent higher multi-core performance. Multi-core power consumption is also reduced by up to 61 percent.
The chip supports LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage, along with a 34.5MB cache.
AI and Gaming
The Dimensity 9600 Pro uses a dual-NPU setup for AI tasks. MediaTek says its Super Efficient NPU 2.0 can reduce power consumption by up to 40 percent. The NPU 1090 also provides up to 51 percent higher LLM prefill performance and 55 percent higher token generation per watt.
For gaming, the new G2-Ultra NX GPU offers up to 27 percent higher peak performance and up to 18 percent faster ray tracing. The brand also claims up to 24 percent lower power consumption at peak GPU performance.
The chipset can support gaming at up to 185fps.
Camera and Video
The Dimensity 9600 Pro comes with MediaTek’s Imagiq 1290 ISP and supports several high-end camera and video features.
These include 4K 120fps cinematic log video, 4K 60fps AI True Color Tone, and 4K 240fps native direct-output slow-motion video.
It also supports H.266 hardware video decoding.
Connectivity
The Dimensity 9600 Pro supports 5G-Advanced, 5CC carrier aggregation with download speeds of up to 7.4Gbps, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.2, and improved GNSS support.
Could the Vivo and OPPO Be the First Phone to Use It?
The Vivo X500 Pro series and Oppo Find X10 Pro series could be the first phones to use the Dimensity 9600 Pro.
Our earlier report noted that the Vivo X500 Pro Max appeared on a Geekbench listing showing this chipset. A previous listing for the Find X10 Pro Max also showed the phone running the Dimensity 9600 Pro with 16GB of RAM.
Meanwhile, Vivo product manager Han Boxiao confirmed via Weibo, and Oppo also confirmed on the same platform, that their phones will use MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9600 Pro.
The Vivo X500 series will launch on September 21, 2026, while the Oppo Find X10 series is scheduled for September 22, 2026. These two brands will be the first to bring this new 2nm chipset to the market.
