Xiaomi record-breaking revenue of $1.36 billion in just 5 minutes?
Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone giant, has achieved a remarkable feat with its latest flagship devices, the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro. The company announced that it sold about 2 million units of the 14 Series in just five minutes, generating a record-breaking revenue of 10 billion RMB ($1.36 billion). This was the biggest first sale in Xiaomi’s history, with an average price of $620 per device.
The Xiaomi 14 Series, which was launched on October 26, is the world’s first smartphone series powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the most advanced processor for Android phones. The devices also feature a stunning quad-curve design with Dragon Crystal Glass, a Leica-optimized Light Hunter 900 primary camera with a variable aperture system, and a new HyperOS user interface.
The Xiaomi 14 Series was sold out within the first four hours of its initial sale on major Chinese online retailer platforms like Tmall, Jingdong Mall, Douyin, and Kuaishou. The company also reported a sixfold increase in first-sale sales compared to the previous generation in just five minutes of making it available for purchase.
Xiaoyan Wang, the VP/President for Xiaomi China, said that the Xiaomi Home online store experienced technical difficulties due to the overwhelming number of users purchasing the Xiaomi 14 Series. He thanked the fans for their support and promised to improve the service quality.
The Xiaomi 14 Series is currently available only in China, with no information about its global launch timeframe. The Xiaomi 14 has four variants, ranging from 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage to 16 GB RAM + 512 GB storage, with prices starting from CNY 3,299 (~$530) to CNY 3,999 (~$650). The Xiaomi 14 Pro has four variants as well, ranging from 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage to 16 GB RAM + 1 TB storage with a titanium alloy frame, with prices starting from CNY 4,999 (~$650) to CNY 6,499 (~$840).
