Fairphone has officially launched the Fairphone Gen 6+ across Europe and the United States. The device follows the company’s core mission of building repairable, long-lasting smartphones, and it brings upgraded performance and display quality to its modular design. It is available for order now directly from Fairphone’s website and partner retailers.
Features and Specifications
The phone sports a 6.31-inch FHD+ LTPO AMOLED display with a 10 to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to 1,400 nits of peak brightness, 10-bit color, HDR10 support, and Gorilla Glass 7i protection. The compact size makes it comfortable for one-handed use, while the adaptive refresh rate helps save battery when viewing static content.

Under the hood, it runs the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip paired with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The processor should handle daily tasks, social media, and light gaming without issues, and there is also a microSD card slot for those who need extra storage space down the line.
Powering the device is a 4,415mAh removable battery with 27W wired charging and up to 30W peak charging. Being able to swap out the battery is one of Fairphone’s signature features, letting users carry a spare or replace it themselves after years of use rather than replacing the whole phone. For cameras, it uses a 50MP Sony LYT-700C main sensor with OIS on the back, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 32MP Samsung KD1 front camera for selfies.

It ships with Android 16 and Fairphone promises 6 major Android updates, which is far longer than most phones in this segment. Other features include a side fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, eSIM support, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, USB-C port, IP55 rating for dust and splash resistance, and MIL-STD-810H durability certification. It earned an A-rated repairability score and a perfect 10 out of 10 from iFixit, with 12 replaceable parts that users can swap themselves.

Our Take
The Fairphone Gen 6+ does exactly what you expect from the brand. It puts repairability and long-term software support front and center, giving people a real alternative to disposable flagship phones. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip and solid camera system should work well for most users, and being able to swap out the battery or any of the 12 replaceable parts yourself is something almost no other phone offers. At $649, it is not cheap, but when you factor in the 6 OS updates, 5-year warranty, and the ability to keep it running for many years, it could actually save you money in the long run if you are the type who likes to hold onto your devices.
Skip it if you want the absolute fastest performance, ultra-fast charging speeds, or the lowest upfront cost. It will not match flagship power for heavy gaming or professional work, and its 30W peak charging is slower than many phones at this price. It is also not widely available outside Europe and the United States, so it may not be an option depending on where you live.
