Huawei Pura X View Reportedly Surpasses 280,000 Units in Early Sales

The Huawei Pura X View has reportedly surpassed 280,000 activated units in its first week on sale in China, according to Digital Chat Station. The source also says the phone’s average selling price is around 7,000 yuan.

Digital Chat Station shared the figures on Weibo, saying the Pura X View became Huawei’s best-selling single product just five days after its launch. The tipster also said it ranked first among individual products by sales during the week, despite having been available for only five days.

The Pura X View officially launched and went on sale in China on September 9. Unlike Huawei’s traditional foldable phones, the device doesn’t fold. Instead, it features a 16:9.5 wide-screen display, giving it a noticeably wider design than conventional smartphones.

Huawei offers the Pura X View in three storage configurations. The 12GB+256GB model costs 5,999 yuan, while the 12GB+512GB version is priced at 6,999 yuan. The top-end 12GB+1TB model costs 8,499 yuan.

Why is the Pura X View selling so well?

Xiong Ge noted that with smartphone prices already reaching high levels, some consumers may prefer spending that money on a phone with a unique design that stands out from the crowd.

The report also suggested that Huawei could be using the Pura X View to strengthen its position in the mid-to-high-end smartphone market. Rather than competing solely with conventional smartphones, its design gives Huawei another way to attract customers who are interested in the experience and appearance associated with foldables.

Xiong Ge described the move as a clever strategy from Huawei, suggesting that the company may be able to expand its presence in the foldable market while also using the Pura X View to replace some of the demand traditionally captured by the Pura series.
