Huawei’s Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro Hit China With New Chips, Cameras, and HarmonyOS 7

Huawei has launched the Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro in China. The two smartphones feature 6.75-inch OLED displays, Kirin chipsets, large batteries, triple rear camera systems, and HarmonyOS 7. The Mate 90 Pro has a higher-resolution display brightness rating, a larger battery, and faster wired charging than the Mate 90.

Huawei Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro Feature

The Huawei Mate 90 features a 6.75-inch flat OLED display with a 2832 × 1280 resolution, a 1–120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 1,440Hz PWM dimming, and a 300Hz touch sampling rate. In addition, it is protected by third-generation Kunlun Glass for improved durability.

Meanwhile, the Mate 90 Pro comes with a 6.75-inch BOE second-generation Linglong OLED display. Similarly, it offers a 2832 × 1280 resolution and a 1–120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate. However, the Pro model stands out with up to 2,200 nits of full-screen brightness and up to 12,000 nits of local peak brightness.

In terms of performance, the Mate 90 is powered by the Kirin 9030 chipset, while the Mate 90 Pro uses the more advanced Kirin 9035. Furthermore, both models feature the Suzaku display chip and run on HarmonyOS 7, providing a consistent software experience across the series.

For photography, both phones are equipped with a 50MP main camera, a 40MP ultra-wide camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, and a third-generation Red Maple primary-color camera. Additionally, both models feature a 13MP ultra-wide front camera with 3D depth sensing for enhanced selfies and depth-related features.

Finally, the two models differ in battery capacity and charging speeds. The Mate 90 has a 6,600mAh battery with support for 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. On the other hand, the Mate 90 Pro packs a larger 6,800mAh battery and supports significantly faster 100W wired charging, while retaining 50W wireless charging.
