ZTE’s sub-brand Nubia has quietly unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the Nubia Z50S, which boasts a curved FHD+ AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.

The Nubia Z50S features a 6.67-inch screen with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, a peak brightness of 1000 nits, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The display also supports HDR10+, DCI-P3 color gamut, and adaptive refresh rate from 30Hz to 144Hz.
The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which is based on a 4nm process and has an octa-core CPU with a Cortex-X3 core clocked at 3.36GHz. The chipset also has an Adreno 740 GPU, a Hexagon 801 DSP, and a Spectra 680 ISP. The Nubia Z50S comes with up to 24GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

On the back, the Nubia Z50S sports a quad-camera setup that consists of a 64MP Sony IMX787 main sensor with an f/1.6 aperture and OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 125-degree field of view and autofocus, an 8MP telephoto lens with OIS and optical zoom, and a ToF sensor for depth sensing. The rear cameras can record up to 8K videos at 30fps and support AI scene recognition, night mode, portrait mode, and super slow-motion. On the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera that supports face unlock, beauty mode, and HDR.
The Nubia Z50S packs a 500mAh battery that supports 80W wired fast charging and reverse charging. The company claims that the device can be fully charged in just 35 minutes using the bundled charger. The smartphone also has dual stereo speakers with DTS:X Ultra sound enhancement, NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, and USB Type-C port. It runs on Android 13 with MyOS 13 skin on top.
The Nubia Z50S comes in three color options: Black, Gold, and Silver. It is priced at CNY 3699 (around PHP28,000) for the base model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, CNY3999 (around PHP30,000) for the variant with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, and CNY4399 (around PHP33,000) for the top-end model with 24GB RAM and 1TB storage.
The smartphone is currently available for pre-order in China through the official Nubia website and other online platforms. The shipping will start from October 28. There is no word yet on the availability of the Nubia Z50S in other markets, including the Philippines.
